Opinions needed

Hi, I’m considering the 2 following devices

  1. Aqara FP300
  2. Tapo P304M

I want to get the Aqara for its light, temp & humidity sensors to replace my current Sonoff temp & humidity sensor whilst adding a light sensor to control my light turning on when light levels drop in my room instead of using sun elevation, will be connecting it to my HA using zigbee.

I want the Tapo P304M to replace my 3 non-smart extensions.

If there are any LED’s on the devices can they be turned off at night

What’s peoples opinions who are using them

There’s always tape or nail polish to cover them up.

Or if you are not nail polish user, whatever enamel paint, epoxy puddy, sticky stuff…

The right color lacquer can be transparent enough to still see the led when you need to, but it won’t keep you awake at night.

Good point.
Local beauty stores have testers, I’m exited to visit there with my devboards…

I have some black nail polish to tone down the super-bright LEDs on some of my network gear. I don’t need to see the LEDs on/off in direct bright sunlight and I don’t need to light the entire room with one LED. (I’m talking to you, Canon. What idiot ever thought of designing a printer with an LCD screen with no backlight, and a power LED bright enough to cast shadows in the day right next to the display.)

I’ve cut off the sticky part of a post-it note to fade colors. Not as permanent as lacquer, but it has stayed on for me for at least a year or so. Also I guess it only works on flat surfaces.

Blue painter’s tape works well, also.

I’ll admit to using my girlfriend’s UV-cured nail polish as an urgent solder mask. Happy to report it behaves exactly like solder mask.

And long term? Acrylic vs epoxy… Some added vitamins might give extra boost for your circuits… :joy:

It was a scrap piece of circuit board so I don’t really care. All I know is that now it looks faaabulous
