hmm it's a big leap from external humidity and temperature to a £500 weather station. I'd love that but I can't imagine it being worth £500 to me.
There many other benefits to having a PWS (personal weather station). For example, I live in a micro-climate area and the national weather report (from instruments at the nearest airport) is always off from the actual conditions at my house. My PWS is also integrated into my Rachio irrigation controller, so I save a lot of money over a static rain sensor if rainfall is predicted or observed over certain amounts.
Of course there are other weather stations available at a lower cost.
So what you are saying is that you are budget constrained, which is understandable.
I'm saying that a £500 weather station is not a relevant solution to the thread. If it was I'd consider it. So no, it's not a budgetary constraint.
Umm... The title says "Outdoor Humidity and Temperature sensors" which is what a PWS does (and many that don't cost 500 pounds).

You might be asking advice in the wrong Forum, or You don't really know what potential causes is the root to Damp Inside Your House
You can't change the weather nor the outside temperature, and Does it really matter when and what temperature it's outside ?
You have Damp inside your House, it's not caused by the weather, it's caused by the Building Construction, or lack of ventilation ( or maybe the Jacuzzi in the LivingRoom )
You Should have "posted" that vital information in your Topic Header, and/or Posted in a forum for DIY House Maintenance & Trix
I have played around with weather for many a year, with the backbone still a data logger with custom C# wrapper code that allows to query via its C library.
I did have a Vaisala ultrosonic wind sensor but when the Cockatoos took a liking to it and destroyed it, I got an Ecowitt WS80 paired with an GW1200 gateway and I could not be happier with its ease of integration into Home Assistant. As the WS80 is solar powered there is no maintenance of any kind.
As a proof of concept you coul get the GW1200 which does not break the bank, and feed its temp/humidity sensor out through a window or under a door to get your basic readings. Then you can add on sensors as you need and budget allows and have the GW1200 for your inside readings.
My request was for outdoor sensors not about the causes of damp. I'm researching that separately.
ASIDE: FYI according to research (purchased from the UK Building Research Establishment), long term monitoring of temperature and humidity inside and outside is one of the key indicators for diagnosing the causes correctly. This matters because according to the BRE, most diagnoses are wrong. So you can waste a lot of money treating the wrong causes.
So yes, the causes of damp are due to building construction (and also the conditions in which the building resides, such as ground level and water content/drainage etc). But you can't fix those issues without a correct diagnosis and that's why I'm looking at internal and external monitoring. It's one of the main reasons I began looking at HA.
Right, they seems to focus on research for future building materials and constructions to avoid i.e Damp issues ( Which are caused basically by nature laws )... are you planning to build a new House, or do you think a Long Term weather/climate monitoring of your House particular Damp Issues is a way forward to find the cause, in your particular case ?

Strange, as I have their book of research which is all about diagnosing and treating damp in existing buildings from different road and different construction.
And yes, I've already explained that I'm following their advice on diagnosing the cause of damp in my house. Hence monitoring as mentioned.
Please keep in mind some people live in an apartment maybe even without a balcony so placing a big PWS is not possible (or doesn’t make sense if you put a wind sensor directly to a wall) but one or two l sensors outside a window ( I have one at the east side and one on the west side) can get a good idea if it makes e to open the windows in the summer as one example.
Please read the Posts, OP doesn’t , And his Purpose is to locate the cause of Damp in his wall ( So he can locate and prevent/fix the cause ) , Where actually the Wind direction Also is a factor to take into consideration
People living in an apartment hardly have such issues and concern
