My current 5-in-1 weather station broke down and I’d like to replace it with something cheap as I only want to have outside temperature. What could you recommend? Of course it needs to integrate well into HA.
I have rtl433 running so can be any RF (433 or 866 MHz for example), zigbee or potentially WiFi.
I use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IXOM7QK (no longer available at Amazon, but many others from Acurite use the same outdoor sensor cheaply) - works fine with the rtl433.
I just have a cheap aqara temp sensor and printed a nice enclosure.

I am using a Sonoff SNZB-02WD over Zigbee
Same here, works since years without a problem.
How does the battery perform in freezing temperatures? That’s one of the reasons I would think it’s not very suitable for winters where I am located.
It’s okay for me in mid Germany.
But I think that highly depends on the winter and where you live.
