Overview Dashboard - editing will stop it from automatically updating?

Hi!
I’m looking into changing my dashboards, and I don’t quite get the original “Overview” dashboard. Honestly, it doesn’t really give me an overview at all, it’s just a mess with a bunch of entities I really don’t think I’ll ever use. On my phone I have to scroll through loads of rows with statuses of the dishwasher door and all its programs etc, same with heat pump, loads of thermostats I never change, just to get to a page at the bottom where I can turn on a light.

I get that I can create a new dashboard, and I already have, but the default page is always Overview, which I honestly find completely useless, other than having a list of all default entities.

I also see that if I start editing the Overview dashboard, it will no longer receive updates. Is that a bad thing?

The default Overview dashboard updates automatically when you add new devices. However, once you start editing the default dashboard, it no longer updates automatically. For this reason, we start here by adding a new dashboard. This lets us keep the default Overview dashboard.

Why do I want to keep the default Overview dashboard? For me it’s just an example page, I can’t really use it for anything useful. I’d like that to be my main (and simple) dashboard that is optimized for all phones and laptops, and rather have additional custom dashboards that are for specific devices (Shelly x2 Display etc).

Thoughts? I don’t think I quite get this Overview dashboard thing. If I wanted to leave it, I would rather have it hidden or at least not as the default dashboard.

Can I set default dashboards for users? Like my kids f.ex, I’d like them to have access to what’s interesting for them to see, and definitely not let them control my Tesla or charger settings etc.

Open the user settings and change it.

Or just delete the default. I see no reason to keep it if it bothers you that much

It’s not that it bothers be in that sense, it’s more that I don’t see its function.
The default dashboard setting seems to be set only per device, and I can’t force it globally or for each user.

Is there a way to edit it without breaking Overview?

The on/off switch at the top right is turning off more devices than I’d like to, especially kitchen where dishwasher etc is turned off. Or if off and turned on - it tries to turn on multiple programs!

You mean the default dashboard.
I don’t think so.
But I think you can move the dishwasher to kitchen2 and it will show up in a different card.
Not sure though. I have never used the default dashboard.
