I purchased a P2 Motion and Light Sensor battery life back in January and got it set up in my kitchen thought Home Assistant.
I have 2 automations.
Turn on light if motion is detected between sunset and sunrise and then turn off when motion is not detected.
Turn on light if motion is detected and LUX is below 60 then turn off when motion is not detected.
These automations have been working fine.
Then on January 31st the automations stopped working, so I checked everything and discovered that the battery level was at 25%, so I just assumed it was cheap batteries and I got some new Duracell ones.
Installed them and everything worked ok, until this morning when I have discovered that the battery level is back down to 25%. So it has used the batteries up in 1 week!
This cannot be right as this is from the uk Aqara website.
Easy to Install and Place in Everywhere: The sensor includes 2 adjustable stands for easy wall, ceiling, or horizontal installation, allowing precise P2 positioning for specific area monitoring, like over a desktop. The Motion and Light Sensor P2, powered by a 2*CR2450 Lithium battery, which makes its battery life one of the longest among Matter over Thread sensors.*****
***** The battery life depends on the particular Matter ecosystem and the number of Matter ecosystems the device is connected to.
am using an Apple TV as my thread hub, it is probably less than 3m away in another room though one wall.
As a side note, I have an Aqara door and window sensor P2 at the top of my garden, maybe 20m or more away connected to the same Apple TV hub and that battery is still showing 100% and its been installed over a year and has automations associated with it.
I wonder if it is to do whit the automations. I have looked at both of them and the garden gate had its automation as mode: single where the light sensor is mode: restart.
