Hi all,
This question has likely been answered a million times however i cant seem to get the info which would boost my confidence.
I currently have my HA green pending delivery for small Automations i have regarding humidity etc.
This got me looking at the heating and down rabbit holes of all sorts of hardware and smart controllers etc.
While thinking about it, it occurred to me a UK / irish heating controller is basically just a set of contacts that open or close dependant on the controllers program, if i wanted to fully replace the controller id have to also consider the sometimes messy and complex wiring in the system as a whole. However the whole solution could be infinitely simpler by installing 3 shelly switches in parallel with the 3 contacts connected to the controller.
This way, all manual control of the system would remain, boost etc (for the far less technically minded in the house) but i could utilise all HA sensors and automations to essentially activate the same contacts for the 3 zones (CH, CH, HW) within the existing system without any modifications or wiring changes.
Could this be done without any issues anyone can foresee?
Id appreciate if anyone has done something similar or could think of a solution which does not require off the shelf controllers like drayton etc.
Thanks.
