I’m trying to understand the default Overview frontend.
When I add devices, the Overview displays some but not all new enabled entities. My Overview config is
strategy:
type: original-states
When I look at various entities that don’t auto populate, some have the word ‘Press’ to activate a function (e.g., Ping a Z-Wave device), some display a historical graph of values (e.g., Phone battery level, WiFi RSSI value). I could post screenshots of all the different missing entities, but I don’t want to get into the weeds regarding each different entity.
The missing entities are set to Enabled and Visible.
I simply add a new dashboard to display the missing values.
I have tried clicking Add to Dashboard on some entities, say for Z-Wave devices, but I can only add to a custom Dashboard or Map. Clicking the Default dashboard returns the error ‘No config found.’
I know I can create new Dashboards or take control of the Default dashboard to auto-populate whatever I want. I would like to understand the Overview dashboard a bit more.
Why do I have to create a new dashboard to display entities that don’t auto populate on the default Overview?
