I’ve just installed Philips hue dimmer (v2) which is connected to HA over Conbee II usb stick.
I would like to setup automation executing action by triggering long press button.
However always when press and hold button, it will first trigger action equals to single button press and just after that also action equals to long press button is executed.
It means I always execute action assigned to single press button even when it’s not desired.
For IKEA buttons it works fine, however for philips dimmer not.
How do you integrate the ConBee to Home Assistant? ZHA or DeCONZ?
There are 4 events for each button, short press, short release, long press and long release. You are probably triggering your current actions based on short press, but you should trigger them on short release, because when you long press a button it will always short press the button first.
I am using Deconz integration (paired over phoscon). Everything is set based on short and long press, thank you for advice, I will try short and long release.
For a better feeling I personally use short release and long press. This way it will trigger as soon as the button is pressed long enough and not only after it has been released.
As a reference:
xxx0: short press
xxx1: long press
xxx2: short release
xxx3: long release
thank you very much, this is something what I have realized right after I set it up in way you have proposed in your previous comment and tested it afterwards. Thank you once again for the tip, it’s much better to use without “release” for a long press button.
