Phillips Hue with HA Yellow Zigbee

Hello - I’m confused about how this works

I purchased a Hue light, model# 563007 Hue A19

The bulb says it’s Zigbee compatible

My HA yellow says it has a Zigbee module and can serve as a hub. I have the ZHA integration installed

I’m not able to detect the bulb to connect.

Do I still need a hub or Zigbee dongle?

You shouldn’t do.

Questions:

  • What do you mean by “not able to detect”? Zigbee devices are not detected automatically. You would normally open the coordinator from the integration page and click on “Add devices via this device”.
  • Do you have any other mains-powered Zigbee devices? Zigbee depends on a mesh of lots of mains-powered devices, all communicating with one another. One bulb should work, but it’s not ideal.
  • Is the bulb in pairing mode? If it’s new it should be.

**Sorry for the reply spam I had some weird browser issues

Forgive my illiteracy here but this is my first and only zigbee device.

When I view my ZHA integration page I don’t see any type of “coordinator” or options. I have just the standard integration details

  • 1 Device
  • 45 Entries
  • Documentation
  • Known Issues
  • Enable Debugging
  • Add Entry

Am I looking in the wrong place?

I have many matter devices but none using zigbee that I know of. I’m guessing they are not the same thing. The bulb is about 8 feet away from my HA machine

Edit: Yes the bulb is brand new and in pairing mode

Click that 1 Device (your coordinator), then click “Add devices via this device”

Thanks very much!
