Not sure what is going on, I have home assistant setup to when it detects me at close to home it will unlock the front door.
We had Eero 6+ mesh network.
Just upgraded to the Eero Pro 6E.
We moved them from address 6 miles away from here.
Over the past few days my front door will randomly unlock.
I took at the location of my phone as well as my wifes phone and they will randomly show up at the other exact address where we took the mesh network from and back at our home.
The only thing that has changes at my house is these Eero Pro 6E. We have lived here for 5 years.
I have looked in the settings of the Eero and see no info.
All of these purple lines are showing me at the other address when I have not been there in 3 days.
Apple and Google keep databases of Wifi accesspoints ant their location to improve GPS accuracy. Unfortunately it takes them time to figure out a wifi accesspoint has moved to a new location. This is worse if the move was not very far.
Things you could try is to rename your SSID to something ending in _nomap to signal you do not want your wifi in the database. I do not know if it will help because it is already in there (see also the info linked below) . So it might make it worse because they may forget to remove it when they no longer use its position.
Also a new SSID might not help because they often use the MAC address for fingerprinting. But also it is a pain to connect everything to the new SSID. But as this is a real pain, I would probably try.
Another option is to turn GPS accuracy settings off for your phones. It should refrain from using the databases, but at the cost of accuracy, sometimes by a lot.So that defeats the purpose.
If you are only interested in home/away, I’d stick to a router based device tracker for now, and wait untill the wifi database has learned your AP has moved. I do. ot know of a way to ask for that update.
