I recently installed a StarTech USB56KEMH2 modem and it’s working as expected. It’s great for rejecting calls labeled as “SPAM RISK” by my ISP/telco and for keeping a log of incoming calls.

Questions:

  1. I presume there is a reason why HA cannot place outgoing calls with this modem for notifications. I’m curious as to why such a feature is not possible.

  2. Could there exist the possibility of adding another sensor and/or attribute? It might be useful to be able to capture the amount of voicemails in the inbox. I suspect this might be possible since the landline phone displays the number of voicemails on its LCD screen.
