Our church had another big water leak this week. Considering setting up HA to monitor leak detection. However, need a way to notify individuals with a phone voice. SMS isn’t going to be very helpful at 2am in the morning. Have looked at Twilio, but having difficulty it setting it up.
Question: Any examples of systems that are using a phone voice notification as part of their HA system?
One way you could do it is to hook up to Pagerduty. You could send an alert to the PD API, and PD will do phone call alerts as well as SMS. Could even build a rota in PD of people who are ‘on-call’ and let PD handle notifying the right person.
AlertSite would be another option as they have an API. Not sure about pricing, but I think there is a low-cost option with fees only when triggering calls. https://smartbear.com/product/alertsite/overview/
Can’t you do something with Pushbullet and setting an alarm sound on your telephone as soon as a specific message arrives? Should be doable with Tasker…
I found a less than ideal solution, but it works. It works for a ios phone using HA SMTP notification. Set up a VIP google or outlook email account. You will need Outlook installed on your ios. Gmail will push to the gmail app, but it won’t push to ios mail app. Outlook will push to ios mail. Set up a VIP with special ring tone in ios. When a message arrives from your VIP, it will alert your phone, even if it is locked.
We are using good information and it is really helpful for us. I use outlook and if I have an error with outlook then go to the outlook error 0x8004011d to solve the problem. And which provide the good service.
