🎤 PiperTTS Mockingbird: High-quality local TTS for everyone (No coding required, "Runs on a potato!")

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called PiperTTS Mockingbird.

My goal was to democratize local AI. I love the speed and privacy of the Piper engine, but I noticed it can be a bit intimidating if you aren’t a software engineer. I wanted to build something so that “average” people can set up great local text-to-speech without any technical headaches.

Why check it out?

Zero-Config Setup: Double-click a file and it just works. It handles the Python environment, dependencies, and engine downloads for you.
Runs on a Potato: It’s incredibly lightweight. It’ll run on a Raspberry Pi 4, old laptops, or even budget desktops.
Privacy First: 100% local. Your text never leaves your computer.
Built-in Integrations: I’ve included a Chrome Extension (read any webpage) and a Google Docs add-on.
Where to get it:
[Link to your GitHub: GitHub - PiperTTS-Mockingbird-Team/PiperTTS-Mockingbird: A fast, local, and private Text-to-Speech server (MIT) with a simple UI, custom voice cloning (Docker), and built-in integrations for Browser/Google Docs/Home Assistant. Server is cross-platform; Training requires Windows/Docker. Runs on anything from a Raspberry Pi to a workstation.]

It’s MIT licensed and completely free. I’d love to hear what you think, especially if you’ve been looking for a “set and forget” TTS solution that doesn’t need the cloud!
