Plex Activity Sensor always assumes that Plex is accessible

I’ve added the Plex Activity Sensor to my config in order to see if someone is using Plex, which runs on my pc. Since the pc is close to my bedroom, I always turn it off at night via an automation, but I want it to wait for Plex to become inactive for 5 minutes.

That part works, but when my pc is turned off, the Plex sensor is spamming the HA log with errors about being unable to connect to my pcs ip-address and timeouts while doing so. It checks the status every 30 seconds, so that adds up fast.
Also, when I restart Home Assistant, the Plex sensor won’t load if the pc is not turned on and I’m not sure if it tries again at a later time.

I was wondering if it is possible to stop a sensor from updating based on some conditions, or to turn these updates on or off via an automation. I’ve tried changing the scan_interval, but unless there is a way to do this dynamically or with an automation, this will be of no use to me.

Any tips?

I have the same problem.
Did you ever find a solution?

Unfortunately not. For now I’ve disabled the sensor in my config while I’m figuring out another way to do this.
I’ve tried using eventghost on my PC to check if Plex is running, but that did not work out for me yet.
Other Plex add ons for hassio might work, but seem a bit overkill for just wanting to know the status of my Plex server. Too bad, since this sensor seems to provide exactly what I need.
