Plex addon on HAOS paywall

Hi,

I have Plex server installed as an addon on HAOS. I also have a Pi NAS connected and I managed to connect it all together with Samba following this brilliant guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu6IDFeyfwE

I’m running into a weird scenario tho:

  1. When I try and stream content from the PiNAS storage via Plex I’m getting the Plex paywall that I need Remote Watch Pass to view remote content although everything is on my local network. See the attached below.
  2. When I try and stream it via Chrome on my Windows machine everything is happy.

Any ideas?

Hello mdreamer,

You may have to set-up something like zerotierone or one of the others to give you a flat (appearing) network to connect thru. You are bumping thru some subnet border or firewall or something and that is why you see that.

Do you have VLANs or use multiple network interfaces on your HA?

Thanks. I don’t have any kind of vlan or sub networks in my network. It is a simple HA, Plex add on and raspberrypi as a NAS that the Plex is connected to.

How can I debug it? Also, is there a way to upload files into the HA-Plex add on file system?

My guess is that the Plex server detects the internal VM network and then thinks all the other networks, even the local one is external.

It is a new “feature” in the Plex server, so if they come up with a solution or you will have to make one is hard to say.

@WallyR, do you mean the “VM” of the addon on HA?

Also, if that’s the case how come it only happens in my Android app but on the same network from my windows laptop everything is working?

That is a good question.
What IP do your Windows machine and your Android device have?

Android 192.168.20.9
Windows 192.168.20.24

I think you will have to ask on a Plex forum
