I have a dumb Devi thermostat that controls my rain gutter heating. This should run when freezing. This is a huge waste of energy (money) if there has been no snow. But a necessity if there has.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a thermostat that can be controlled by Home Assistant:
DIN mountable
either zigbee or esp that can be flashed.
can be aliexpress stuff (runs a contactor, so no amps through the thermostat)
temp sensor can be either analog or digital (it currently has NTC 15 kOhm at 25 Ā°C sensor, but i can change it if necessary, easily accessible)
Can be just a din mounted ESP based relay if I can connect a temp sensor and make it a āthermostatā in ESPHome.
Get din mounted relay like Shelly Pro and connect your Devi to the input (SW) of that.
Then do your automationsā¦
But how you sense if there is snow or not?
Already did that, but Iād rather throw out the Devi (just a bit diifferetly - I take away the power from Devi with a Shelly). So I need a Shelly Pro type thing with GPIO. There must be one! Then I would also get the outside temp from this to HA.
I have a meteo station, so I know if and how much has been snowing since the last thaw.
I can personally vouch for the Gledopto GL-SD-003P (which is a dimmer, not what you are looking for in this case, but thought I would mention it as I also love DIN rail stuff) and the Tuya TS004 (which is a 4-gang relay, but comes in 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-gang and also for mains and lower voltages). Both were inexpensive and available on AliExpress.
Looking now, I donāt even see the latter on Blakadderās site, but these relays are all over AliExpress (at least last time I looked). You will know them because they come like I said in multiple gang configurations, and then in 2 voltage varieties for each gang configuration (7-32V or 85-250V).
Just make sure you order the Zigbee ones (as I think they come in Wi-Fi version too, but then you need to use their app or LocalTuya or something like that, which personally I am not going to do).
