Plugwise USB/Stick beta

Anyway the new quick discovery is so much better than before, it now only takes one extra reload to get them all working. Great improvement and for me no side effects.

@edwin-2023 Please test v0.50.0a25, automatic joining and the device-add / device-remove services should be working with this version.

Wil do and let you know.

Tried v0.50.0a26, worked pretty fast in one go.
Now running v0.50.0a27 but needed a second reboot of HA system before all available circle become online.
Also noticed that i can toggle the switch very fast and the circle keeps responding. With the version before the scan redo a circle ended up in limbo land when i performed a fast on/off sequence. Only thing i noticed now is when i pull a circle out of the socket it takes quite some time before the interface noticed this and in that time it looks like you’re switching on and offf but obviously nothing can happen because the circle is out of the wall socket

Yes, I noticed that too. I have added that the availability of each device is shown correctly but the detection is not great/fast I noticed (too).

I’m working on making the auto-joining function correctly. Rejoining of a known device functions it looks like but the joining of a previously unknown device is not yet fully functioning.

I will try, when I’m home, with an circle that’s lying in the closet and let you now.

Please upgrade to v0.50.0a32, this version should work better.

The device-delete service has been removed. Instead, please use the DELETE-button shown on each device (Circle) page. Please note: this button is also shown for the Stick and the Plus-device. But these devices cannot be deleted.

Still running 0a30, no 32 available.
Added a circle out of the drawer, waited an hour, not recognized. Reloaded the integration and within 5 min everything running again including the last added circle.

Yes, HACS has stopped quickly detecting updates I’ve noticed.
To find the update you have to, in HACS, find an open the integration, click the 3 vertical periods on the top-right, then press Update information. Then , when there is an update, the update-version is shown under Settings.

Working on another small update, v0.50.0a34 will be available later today.

Yes I’ve noticed the same, when the system has been up for some time, the new device does not advertise that it’s available to join. Shortly after a HA restart or an Integration-reload I see the NodeJoinAvailableResponse in the HA logs and the new device shows up in HA sometime later.

The restart/reload can be avoided by using the plugwise_usb-beta device_add service. But then you’ll need to know the full ZigBee MAC of the device.

Update, will try tomorrow.
Reload does not bother me so much anymore since it’s now fast and reliable

Alright, mist the .34, sorry for that.
Not sure how to test the .35 since i only got offered the .36 which says do not install :flushed:

Please test v0.50.0a37, this version is ready for testing

I have replaced the device_add service by the enable_auto_joining service.
When HA has not been restarted/reloaded for some time, executing this service temporarily enables the auto-joining, allowing you to add devices that have been reset without the need for a reload. Please test this new function.

Please explain how you want me to “Please test this new function.”

You can test by trying to add a new device several hours after the last HA restart.
You can for instance delete one Circle from the Integration via it’s DELETE-button. Make sure to remove that Circle from the power-socket directly after the delete action.
Next, you can execute the enable_auto_joining service. Then reset the Circle via the 3s in - 3s out - 3s in - 3s out - 8s in - 3s out - back in sequence. The reset is successful when you hear the relay click after about 5-10 secs after the back in action.
After a few minutes the Circle should show up again in the Integration.

Please note: Plugwise USB beta v0.50.0 has been released!!

Plugwise USB beta v0.51.0 is available.

This version adds a service to enable (and disable when needed) production (measure electricity generation next to consumption) for any Circle/Stealth.
Now Source is no longer required to set this functionality.

You’re faster then I can test…
Will there be an option to disable the switch function on a circle to prevent accidental switching off?
And one last. Does the integration support ser2net. So if I connect the stick to another pi I can connect from HA to the stick?
Just asking

You mean you are looking for a lock function that prevents the switch from toggling? Please add a Feature Request for this on the github.

About ser2net, yes that’s supported, see a previous answer that I gave you, the relevant info is in the picture, white text on black: How to connect a remote USB device over ethernet connection - #9 by bouwew

So sorry for asking again… (short memory)
For switch block request i’ll make it on github.
Update. Tried on GitHub - plugwise/plugwise_usb-beta: Custom-component / development version of the USB Plugwise Home Assistant platform but could not find option feature request.
