PodPoint control issues

I have a PodPoint charger integrated into HA, it all appears to be working ok:

However, after I plug my Outlander PHEV in, no matter what option I select from ‘Charging allowed’ and ‘Smart charge mode’, it always charges immediately.

I would like to be able to schedule the car charging from HA, the Outlander app is awful and requires you to be close to the car to make changes.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I have been monitoring the network connectivity on my PodPoint in case this is part of the issue.

As you can see on the chart below, each grey section is where it stops responding to pings from the HA server. This could be normal behaviour for a PodPoint, or perhaps a sign of a failing WiFi adapter in it. The closest wireless AP is only 2m away.

I have instead now installed a Shelly relay which is powered by the 12v DC out on the PodPoint and is wired to the keyswitch pins on the PodPoint.
When the relay closes the PodPoint thinks a keylock has been turned to stop the charger from being used (it flashes yellow to show this). When the relay is deactivated, the PodPoint believes the keyswitch has been disabled and goes back to charge mode.

I have enabled a simple routing that disables the relay at midnight and re-enables it again at 05:00, to allow mu car to charge at the low overnight EV tariff rate we have.
