Poll for opinion on ZWA2

Hi there,
I had a few issues with the connectivity of some of my zwave devices which are located in the garage (furthest away from my gateway), so I tried to improve this by replacing my homeseer g8 with the Homeassistant ZWA2 (BIG ANTENNA!), because others already mentioned that it improved their connectivity.

Right now I’m pretty much disapointed.

  1. The current firmware is based on SDK 7.23.1 (Homeseer g8 is on 7.23.4). I found this repo GitHub - NabuCasa/zwave-firmware at master where the last commit is 5 month old. Right when the last FW version was released. So there seems to be no effort to bring a new FW version which is based on 7.23.4.
  2. The connectivity didn’t improve at all. I also tried Zwave LR for my garage sensors (its roughly 20 meteres), but nope. Out of range.
  3. The mesh looks REALLY weird. For some reasons some nodes which are at one end of the house first go via a node at the complete oposite of the house just to go back to a node in the same room as itself and then to the controller.

Did someone else have something positive to say about it? Did someone maybe even directly compare it to other z-wave gateways? Are there any tricks I could try to improve it?

My current feeling is that I will just sent this back.

well, i had a zwave.me stick, and the range was on the edge. In my workshop, just 6m far from the antenna, but behind a reinforced concrete wall, my devices often gone dead and needed re-interviews.
After the migration to ZWA2 it never happened again. For me, things just got better…
