PoolSync Custom — 100% Local Control for AutoPilot PoolSync & AquaCal Heat Pumps
Bring your complete AutoPilot PoolSync ecosystem and AquaCal heat pump hardware directly into Home Assistant with zero cloud dependencies.
Whether operating a standalone PoolSync controller or an AquaCal heat pump equipped with an integrated controller, PoolSync Custom provides full local polling, real-time control, and native Home Assistant entities across your entire equipment stack — chlorination, water chemistry, heating, variable-speed pumps, motorized valves, and group scenes.
Key Capabilities
-
100% Local IP Control: Direct, high-reliability local communication using push-button hardware authorization (
Auth/Servicebutton). No cloud outages, no external accounts, and zero latency. -
Multi-Device & Multi-Controller Architecture: Built from the ground up for complex setups. Supports multiple PoolSync hardware controllers as separate config entries, as well as multi-unit setups (e.g., dual ChlorSync chlorinators, multiple heat pumps, or stacked ChemSync units).
-
Full Equipment Coverage:
-
Heat Pumps & Climate: Full native Home Assistant
climateentity for target water temperature, HVAC modes, presets, and active state monitoring. -
ChlorSync (Chlorinator): Adjust output percentages, track salt PPM, water temperature, cell flow, polarity cycles, and clear cell life warnings.
-
ChemSync (Chemical Controller): Set pH and ORP setpoints, adjust max daily feed limits, monitor live acid consumption, tank level alerts, and trigger prime/boost routines.
-
Pumps & Valves: Switch between
Auto(group-driven),Manual(direct RPM adjustment), andOff. Monitor real-time RPM, priming status, and valve positioning. -
Group Scenes: Individual switches for
POOL,SPA,WATERFALL,FILTRATION,CLEANER, andAMBIANCE. Exposes custom run-time duration sliders, controller-configured defaults, end times, and schedule management.
-
-
Human-Readable Diagnostics: Automatically decodes raw hardware board fault codes, Wi-Fi link quality (RSSI), power cycles, and firmware/hardware revisions into plain text.
-
Native Automations & Actions: Includes custom services (
set_group_stateandset_pump_mode) for easy scripting and automation handling.
ChemSync & ChlorSync Hardware Validation
While polling and primary controls are fully implemented, a few hardware write commands (such as ChemSync pH/ORP setpoints and ChlorSync cell life resets) were reverse-engineered from API specs. If you own a ChemSync or ChlorSync unit and want to help confirm these write actions on live hardware, please drop a note in our dedicated issue thread:
Confirm and finalize ChemSync & ChlorSync write controls #25
Quick Start & Installation

Ensure you are running Home Assistant Core 2025.1.0 or newer.
-
Open HACS → Integrations → Search for PoolSync Custom → Install.
-
Restart Home Assistant.
-
Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → Search for PoolSync Custom.
-
Enter your PoolSync controller’s local IP address and press the physical Auth / Service button on your controller when prompted.
