I am a new predbat user - running v8.40.15. I have a FoxESS KH7 inverter. This week I noticed that predbat was force-charging the battery from the grid at 10am, even though there was plenty of excess solar forecast to have the battery up to 100% by midday.
The inverter had been put into Backup mode by predbat at 10am, and was discarding all of my excess solar while importing from the grid to charge the battery. I just verified this by looking at my Octopus account data for Tuesday morning, when it was happening. It showed grid imports >1kW between 10-11am, but exports <0.02kW, despite the fact that >2kW of excess solar was being generated throughout that period.
I attach a copy of the predbat plan for that period.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any clues for how to fix it?
Having looked at my historical Octopus account data for this period, it confirms that the inverter was charging the battery exclusively from the grid from 10am, and discarding the substantial excess solar that was being generated at the time - i.e. not exporting it. This seems like anomalous behaviour to me.
I’m guessing that this is expected behaviour when the inverter is in Backup mode. Is there any way to stop predbat putting the inverter into Backup mode and wasting solar energy in this way?
