I have a FRITZ!Box router as my main router and two additional FRITZ!Box devices set up as access points in a Mesh system. Currently, I have only integrated the main router into Home Assistant for device tracking. However, I’ve noticed that when a smartphone connects to one of the access points instead of the main router, Home Assistant marks the device as away.
In the past, I tried integrating all three FRITZ!Box devices, but that led to issues. Is there a way to reliably track devices across the entire Mesh network without running into problems?
I have no such trouble with my Fritz mesh. Are the satellites really using the fritz mesh or are they just separately configured access points? Are they in the same subnet, having exactly the same ip address when connected to the satellites?
My FRITZ!Box routers are registered in the mesh system, and I can see the mesh symbol. Do all of them—the main router and the two additional routers operating as mesh—need to have the same IP address? Currently, all three have different IP addresses.
No, I was not thinking about the access point but the phones. If those end up in a different subnet with a different ip, they might not be recognised. But that does not seem the case here.
Yes, I am sure. Here is a screenshot of my network. I have also only my main router integrated but unfortunately can’t track the devices in the mesh routers.
