Hi gurus. Im planning to upgrade my old asus mesh system and want to use the presence detection that asus routers can provide.
Am i right in assuming that routers using asuswrt will enable this ability in HA?
Im looking to asus because i know the system and their mesh is reasonable affordable. Any other recommendations for mesh routers that provide presence detection that i should look into?
I’m using an older model Asus RT-AC68U and AsusRouter integration from HACS. The detection worked fine, but is currently waiting to be fixed because the status is not updated correctly. It contains a lot of sensors and overall I am satisfied.
I have ac66u models which where the first to have mesh but they lack (to my knowledge) the detection part. And their mesh performance isnt great, a noticeable disconnect/connect gap when i move between nodes and sitting in between means constant gaps in connection.
RT-AX92U 2-pack seems like a good choice. If anyone has any negative views on it, please chime in. Regarding its HA compatibility
I’d look into asus-merlin fw compatibility. That fw quite improves asus functionality etc. Not all asus routers can be loaded with that fw, though.
