I bought a set of tiles (BLE beacons) but they don’t work as intended. When I add them as the tile platform, they show as always home unless they travel with the connected smartphone…
So I tried setting them up as BLE devices, but only the non registered tile shows up an is always away after the initial detection.
How can I fix this? I’m having a hard time to get a reliable form of presence detection going (without the phone apps but they would need my Hass instance to be public)
I’ve not used Tiles with HA yet but the behavior you describe is how they normally work. I’ll have to test them with HA I think. With regards to presence methodology’s, I’ve been playing with “Better Presence” and I really like it. I’ve only been testing if for a few days but its very powerful.

I’m running the NUC image and Bluetooth is very broken in that image. I’m thinking I’ll just rebuild the NUC and install Ubuntu server, and start from there.
