Problem - HA loads (only) occasionally on old iPad

I’m using an old iPad mini 2 (iOS v12.5.5) as a wall mounted Lovelace tablet. It’s quite slow but does the job when it works.

The problem is that sometimes it will not load up HA, it just get stuck at the blue startup HA-logo with no other loading text. Restarting the app does not help, I just have to wait it out and try to run it later.

I use both the HA-app and safari browser to load HA becouse sometimes one works but not the other. This problem occurs daily, sometimes more frequently and sometimes not so often, haven’t been able to see any obvious reasons when it works and not. I use guided access on the iPad and awake it with a motion sensor through HomeKit notifications if that would matter. Running the latest HA-version.

Would be really glad if someone could help me with this problem.

I had the same problem with the first iPad Air running iOS 12.5.x. - the companion app started only after reinstalling the app.
Before repalcing the iPad I decided to delete all fancy themes and most of the frontend extensions in HACS - and everything runs fine. Less eyecandy, but slow and reliable.
I’ve got no idea which part was the problem - I reinstalled some repos like button-card, but no themes.
