Problem with ip/knx abb

After years of running knxd and dealing with constant disconnections, I decided to switch to an ABB IPS/S3.1.1 IP interface.
Everything worked fine for about two days, but now it keeps disconnecting on the KNX bus side.
I’ve checked and the KNX bus is active, but the ABB interface’s telegram LED turns off and the interface becomes unreachable.
The programming is correct, using physical address 1.1.50 on line 1.1.x.
Two clients are connected: Home (1.1.52) and Node-RED with knx-ultimate (1.1.56), plus ETS when in use.
I’m asking for help from anyone who has encountered similar issues or is more experienced than I am; I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong.
Thanks.

Hi :waving_hand:!
Not having any experience with ABB interfaces, but do you have a proper power supply for it? Also have you checked your bus power supply for voltage drops?

Yes, I also tried powering it separately. The KNX bus is working perfectly, and the voltage is fine.
I think it’s actually a defect. If I need to replace it, do you have any interfaces to recommend? Maybe an IP router would be better?
For now, I’ve temporarily switched back to `knxd` in multicast mode, and it seems to be working.
Thanks.

How else do you power it? PoE?
Be aware that it may not support to be powered by a KNX power supply. Not all devices do.

Any should do. Except MDT - can’t recommend those. My favourite is Enertex.
Be sure to get one that supports IP Secure - those are of a more modern generation than the non-secure UDP devices.

May I ask why? Mine is working just fine, serving a tunnel to Home Assistant and ETS without problems so far. It also supports KNX secure but I haven’t configured that so far.

Because their parts of the application that are secure related are buggy. Which lead ETS to generate wrong keyfiles for those devices.
Reported back in 2021 - afaik still not all bugs are resolved. So definitely can’t recommend. There are better devices for the same price.

Well well well… something along the lines of devices not accepting default FDSK?

No. We are a standard client, not a management client - we don’t do any provisioning and therefore don’t have anything to do with FDSKs.

Anyway, getting a bit off topic here. This thread is about ABB interface issues.

I first tried the secondary power supply from the KNX power supply, then I used an external 24VDC power supply, but nothing changed.
Luckily, you advised against MDT; that’s exactly what I was thinking.
Thanks
