I have a 2025 MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB and 1TB. Using UTM setting up HAOS linux. My problem is that during setup, my orange microphone icon shows up when i boot HAOS in my VM. I attempt to install whisper, piper,. In voice assistants, I have test to speech but not speech to text. I havent added Ollama yet. But when I use the HA companion app on my phone, I can somewhat communicate with the voice assistant. Any guidance to previously posted material or any new advice to offer?

Do you have STT installed?
You do not need it and should get the basics running first before adding further complexity. HA Voice will work without ollama
Currently text to speech works, so piper seems to be functionioning. Speech to text does not work, not even a test mic button. However, when I use my companion phone app, i can hit the mic button and as the AI assist a question and although it doesn tunderstand most qustions, at leasst it will reply. Both piper and whisper installed fine and services seem to be started in the wyoming integration. no i am sandboxing this using UTM on my macbook pro m5.
If STT doesn’t work the how is this working?
