Problems installing HA OS on Intel NUC

Hello,

finding problems installing Home Assistant OS on an Intel NUC6CAYH with 120 GB SSD updatet to current firmware done.

followed instructions https://www.home-assistant.io/hassio/installation/

Createt USB Stick with Etcher. When inserting Stick into USB Port and booting there is a short blink showing info for a sec or so like no boot file…

Is the problem I used a USB stick and not a SD card?
How can I get the immage to the NUC and get it to start?

Following the idea of Raspi instaltion it could work to remove the SSD from the Nuc and coppy the immage on it at another machine. If this is the way - how to format the drive (file system)? How to get the immage on the SSD in a windows machine?

Better options?

Thank you for helping a newbe

Check your BIOS to see if boot from USB is at the top of the list. Alternatively press and hold PF10 when you power the nuc on to bring up the boot menu…then select USB.

Hi ghstudio,

thank you so much for your reply.

It does in deed start from the usb drive. It then shows some infomation about the system and tells me to press “m” for the menu or wait for the autoboot.

either option ends in a not blinking shell bar.

if i press enter again and again i can see a message for a second or so which tells me something like:

Bootloader cann not load file “bootmenue”

I also removed every other boot option in the bios. I tried uefi and legacy along with some other relatet options.

thank you for your help

best regards
Christof

Have you tried PF10? Have you reset the bios to default?

yes I did

maybe better install Docker and go from there?
