Problems updating/installing ESPHome

I’m running Home Assistant in a Proxmox VM and ESPHome the ESPHome add-on was installed. When a recent ‘update’ prompt came along I clicked it but got an error.
I tried restarting the HA VM but the problem persisted.

I googled to see if anyone had a similar problem and it seemed some people had success uninstalling and re-installing the add-on.

I removed the add on, but I get the same error when trying to install the add-on again.

The error is:

23-12-23 17:22:15 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.docker.interface] Can't install ghcr.io/esphome/esphome-hassio:2023.12.3: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.43/images/ghcr.io/esphome/esphome-hassio:2023.12.3/json: Internal Server Error ("layer does not exist")

I think the last suggestion I found was to re-install home assistant, which I’d rather avoid if possible. Does anyone have an idea of a way to fix this ?

I have just updated Home Assistant core to to 2023.12.4 and then retried installing ESPHome add on and it has worked

Any update of this case?

I have the same issue with installing cloudflared addon after upgrade

After updating my VM to a new VM with a Home Assistant restore in order to clear the memory because it was full I had to reinstall ESP home and then everything worked fine. Thought I would put this into the universe in case anybody has this problem ESP home took a while to install, but eventually worked.
