Proper Way to Transfer Backups?

I’m in the process of moving my HA from VMWare to my Proxmox and my backup is too large to upload via the web interface so I simply copied via Samba to where it’s supposed to be. The problem is that the “new” HA doesn’t see that backup, which is a first for me as this has always worked fine. The only way I could get it to see it was to run a backup on the “new” HA, then delete the file and rename my copied backup to that file name. Then, of course, all the options to restore are the incorrect versions but it’s as far as I could get.

Is there a better way, other than the web interface, to transfer a backup to HA?

After upload via Samba, you have to reboot the host, then it becomes visible.

I tried that and it didn’t change anything but I’ll give that method another try. Thank you.

Restarting HA is not enough, because the list is read by Supervisor. So a host reboot is needed.

That is what I did - not intentionally for this reason but I tried to take another whack at getting to to work and the previous upload was still there but it showed no backups, and that was a full power off of the VM. It doesn’t hurt to try it again.

I’m not sure why it never worked the other times I rebooted but it seems to have worked this time. Thank you @francisp!
