After some years of own use, I shared my PyScripts (as is) for searching your YAML files or Dashboards for keywords and tracking unavailable devices in your system:

  • A search function for all YAML files (wildcard support, automatically traverses includes)
  • A search function for Home Assistant dashboards (wildcard support)
  • A pyscript.unavailable_devices entity that tracks which devices are unavailable
  • Diagnostic actions to troubleshoot the device availability checks
  • A Lovelace card that provides a clear overview of unavailable devices

Notes:

  • The repository documents how to set up PyScript (skip if done) and add the scripts
  • The Search scripts require to configure a Token to access the HA websocket API
  • The unavailable devices script requires these PyScript options:
    • hass_is_global: true
    • allow_all_imports: true
  • The unavailable devices card is based on 4 custom cards (installable via HACS)
