I've got a bunch of stuff working, but wanted to set up a private interface to the QingPing Air Quality Monitor 2 using MQTT.
I got MQTT & Mosquitto installed.
Oh boy, trying to get the QingPing set up is a nightmare.
1st places I looked indicated you could make the change on the phone app. Well, I could never get the app to find my device. And it turns out you have to turn the location setting to China, because those are the only servers that respond? So, I did get the device added to the app.
And you are then supposed to be able to make the device private, by using MQTT.
But it turns out, you can only set up MQTT by accessing their website version of the app. So, now they will have your username a password, which I REALLY don't like.
I really want the thing off the cloud, and apparently this is the only way?
Is anyone having any luck with making these things private?
EDIT: Oh, I only have the Matter/Thead antenna. I'm assuming that if this uses MQTT over the WiFi.
