I am looking to install cameras at various locations around my house. I have settled on the Reolink cameras because they integrate well with HA using the Reolink NVR/camera integration. I have selected an NVR and cameras based on the Tested Models list to make sure that what I purchase is supported by the integration. Before I move forward I was wondering, if I am using an NVR in between HA and my Cameras, does it really matter if the camera itself is on the supported list or not, if the NVR is on the list? If I understand correctly (which is a big leap trust me) HA will interface with the NVR and not necessarily the camera. I only ask because one of the camera models that I really like is not on the supported list.
OK, thank you. While I am concerned with the video support, I also want to make use of the binary sensors such as motion detected. Sounds like to be safe I should stick to the supported camera list.
If you are referring to list if cameras in the reolink integration page , yes they will work but the list may be missing newer/better/compatible models. The list is well updated and maintained by the looks of it.
I’m interested in the motion (or person) detected sensor. Once I get my cameras and NVR set up, I’m hoping to use HA to turn floodlights on at night when a camera detects a person.
