QuietCool BLE: Native Bluetooth Integration (fan control, smart mode, temp/humidity)

Hi @kentoe - Question: The Fan entity always shows as On when the fan is in “Smart” mode:

I think this can be a little confusing. When it is not actually triggered to run by Smart mode, the details show the fan speed as Off:

Can the entity be changed to display On/Off based on the fan speed, which seems to be more accurate?

Hey Mike, the Fan’s On/Off follows the mode, not the blades. In Smart mode it reads “On” because it’s armed and deciding when to run (like a thermostat on Auto). The Fan Speed sensor is the one that shows if it’s actually moving air.

It’s kept that way on purpose: that On/Off toggle is also what switches Smart mode on and off, so if it tracked the blades instead, toggling it would end up fighting with Smart mode.

Would you be interested in a dedicated “Running” binary sensor (on only when the blades are actually spinning)?

I’m probably not going to use the right terminology here, but I think rather than a new separate dedicated sensor, what would be nice is if the fan entity had an attribute that represents High/Low/Off. Then I could select that in the Tile Card Configuration under State Content and have that displayed on the button.

I do see a Speed attribute listed under State Content, but it seems to have values of High/Low/On. There is an existing Fan Speed sensor that does have values of High/Low/Off. Could this also be included as an attribute?

Hopefully all of this makes sense! It is difficult to explain!

Hey Mike, sorry for the delay here lot of other things going on. This definitely clarifies things for me, thanks a lot!

Just released v0.2.20 with it. The fan entity now has a “Fan speed” attribute (Off / Low / High) that mirrors the Fan Speed sensor. Update via HACS, then in the Tile Card config under State Content you can pick “Fan speed” and it’ll show the real speed on the button — including Off when Smart mode isn’t actively running.

Let me know if it shows up right for you!
