The Problem
I am experiencing a race condition where the Adaptive Lighting (AL) custom component is interfering with and overriding custom color scenes (like Prism or Halloween themes) that are activated directly from the Hue ecosystem (via the Hue mobile app or a physical Hue switch).
Adaptive Lighting successfully detects when a light is turned on and immediately applies its circadian color and brightness, which happens faster than my Home Assistant automations can detect the scene and disable AL’s control.
My Setup:
- Lights: Philips Hue Color Bulbs.
- Control: Hue Bridge integration.
- Adaptive Lighting: Installed via HACS with
take_over_control: trueanddetect_non_ha_changes: true. - Goal: Preserve the custom scene color/brightness when active.
The Question
What is the most race-condition-resistant method to stop Adaptive Lighting when a custom scene is triggered by an external source?
Any examples of automations that have successfully solved this external scene conflict would be incredibly helpful!
