Range extender over Wifi

Hey All,

I’ve got a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Sonoff adapter rocking on the 5th floor of a six-floor building, and Wi-Fi’s good throughout. I wanna set up Home Assistant in a basement apartment, but don’t wanna have to drop Zigbee extenders on every floor in between.

Anyone know of a Wi-Fi based range extender that can also kick off its own local Zigbee network that I can control with Home Assistant?

Thanks for the tips!

You can have Ethernet or wifi based ZigBee adapter and setup a secondary ZigBee network down below. You can have two instances of Zigbee2mqtt (dev vs main) or one with zha/Zigbee2mqtt.

Thx for the fast reply! Care to share some links to devices?

What are the implications?

At the moment I have everything on one screen on my mobile phone app. Will this be affected by what approach I take?

No - HA doesn’t care where the entities came from - indeed that’s the whole point (and strength) of HA.
