Yesterday, Friday, starting at 4:00 PM, the CPU usage of my Raspberry Pi went from 8% to 25% and lately it’s noticeably slower. During that period I didn’t install anything or update; in fact I restored a backup from before that time and it’s still the same. I tried disabling apps and also disabling many integrations and it’s still the same. I tried safe mode and there it was faster. Any help? What can I do to see what is consuming the CPU? Thanks in advance.
About two months ago I switched HA from RPi to a Beelink Mini PC and it did wonders. I had too many devices and the RPi had met its limit.
25% is high?
From a terminal enter ps aux or htop and look for a high CPU%.
Well, I installed Glances, I also tried with iotop and couldn’t find what was causing it. I kept disabling integrations, now I was thinking of removing all the sensors and testing like that, and I see that for the past few hours it went back to normal between 4 and 9% CPU usage. Maybe it’s the cooler on the RPi since it’s working so-so, and I noticed it went from 36 degrees down to 27 (which isn’t that much, and before having the cooler it used to go much higher, yet CPU usage was also very low)
Install the glances app, disable its protection mode, start and open it and press z and c. Share what you see.
For the moment it’s solved. If it happens again, I’ll paste what Glances shows, but it didn’t display anything in particular that was consuming more — just Home Assistant in general with higher usage
