Ratgdo32 and Liftmaster 98022

Hello - I’m a bit of a novice at this level of instillation and need assistance on wiring. Note: I have ESP32 installed with security 2.0 protocol but I do not see my liftmaster model number listed in the wiki. That might be a separate issue down the road.

The problem I’m having is with the wiring. I have three pairs of wires and I cannot fit doubled wires into a single hole. Not sure if my wires are unusually thick or I’m missing something basic here.

Use these

Wires in white RatGDO W
Wires in black to RatGDO B
Wires in red to RatGDO R

RatGDO wires go color to color.
One white empty

I think that’s pretty much how it goes but use the link to confirm

I have been consulting that diagram. The main problem is I can’t fit two wires in the same hole on the ratgdo32 board.

The wires going to the lift are a much thicker gauge than the wires supplied in the ratgdo kit, for reference.

Here is another perspective. I can easily fit two of the included wires from the ratdgo wire harness into the ratdgo board. However my pre-installed wires are too thick. Is this normal? Or do I need to get 6 wire nuts and short jumper cables to hook this thing together?

You would use 3 wire nuts, proper size ties the two or three wires (red to a another single red wire which then goes to the wire block (red) on the RatDGO. Then do the same for white and so on for the last set (blue or black or what ever color is left.

Hope that helps (electricians sometimes have to be inventive, but make sure to tape or heat shrink the wire nuts back onto the wires to prevent them from backing off or moisture getting into the connection point.

Wago connectors

@tmjpugh Can you be more specific other than WAGO connectors? Any specific cat #

You could use these too

No specifics. Whatever fits gauge of wire you are using

We got it working! Easy solution, stepping down the wire size. Next task is to clean up this rats nest.
