Reccomendation for video doorbell WITH 12V/relay output for lock

Hi Guys,

I’ve looked with a lot of interest the Reolink Video Doorbell because it is twofold convinient for me:

  1. it is easy for me to pull a single eth wire all the way to the gate of the garden
  2. i do already have a Reolink camera set up with Frigate and I find it very convenient.

The problem here is that I need to be able to open a 12V lock, and possibly also an electric gate via a dry contact.

This is something very common in my area and most video doorbells support that, but I have not been able to find something well integrated with HA that would allow me to do also some face recognition and NVR integration.

I’ll post here some samples of my need from other video doorbells:

Can you suggest me any product that will act as a video doorbell (bidirectional audio, video streaming, call button) but has also a 12V output, being fully integrated in HA?

I’ve looked on the forum without any luck.

Thanks!

You want what is colloquially known as an intercom. Basically video, audio and door control in one unit.

I used to have your same demands until I got one. The installer showed me how easy it is to take off the screw on the outside unit and inject 12v to the door contacts using a cordless drill battery to open the door. Great if you get locked out in an emergency - not so great if someone breaks into your house.

I suggest you keep the comms and door opening functions separate. You can use something like the Shelly 1 or Aqara T2 for opening the doors (either via HA or via a push button). At least that way you don’t have to worry about people being able to open your front door from the street.

Dahua VTO models

Poe, relay, uses Amcrest integration or direct api, and 2way audio possible

You never ever want this! To easy to break in!

Easy. Yes
Never ever. I don’t know.

This is exterior to exterior access I believe? If so the entry is more a suggestion than deterrent. I can just as easily jump a fence and access gate operator or bypass door.

If this is exterior to interior access, like building access and enters to fully secure space then NO. Maybe make this a bit more secure depending on risk.

I really appreciate the security concern but here it is not an issue: the gate i need to open is the garden one. It is about 2m tall and the fence that separates me from a public park is even lower, about 140cm. I belive a trained person could jump it without touching it.
Tbh its main purpose was to keep dogs and babies IN
I do have something like this installed but it is not HA integrated nor working properly.

I’ll refine my requirements
a system (ideally integrated, but can consist of many pieces) that allows:

  1. video integration with frigate NVR
  2. bidirectional audio
  3. dry contact or 12v output
  4. rely on only an eth PoE cable
  5. no security constraint, I am actually more worried that somebody might use the eth cable rather than somebody breaking into the garden
  6. a “call” button to notify people inside the hause
