Received mismatched identity for device smart switch

So I have 2 of these messeges in my device settings, but how on earth do I find out what the device is? I cant even see a way to delete it and see what stops working? The only info I get is the IP address that my router just says “Meross Smart Switch” and a UID. I have maybe 20 Meross switches so how do I resolve this?

Check out HA`s device information, which also lists the IP, until you find the right one.

So I can see the IP address of the device in question, but how do i see what HA thinks it is, it just says 'Meross Smart switch"? If not how can i delete this and see what stops working and re-add what stops working?

If I could list all devices by IP address that would help but I cannot see how to do this.

Are you saying that you have not assigned friendly names and locations? In that case you really don’t know what is what…

You can deactivate the devices one after the other by pulling them from the wall outlet. HA will thrn show the device as unavailable. You can assign a speaking name and a location to each device during this process.

I have assigned friendly names to all devices that I use, that is why I don’t know what these 2 devices are? I just want to delete them but cannot see how to do that, all i see is the device IP and UID, HA does not show me anyway to just select this and delete it.

We are turning on circles. I described a way to identify the device in question.

Meanwhile I entered the error message into Google and got:

Home Assistant “mismatched identity” errors usually stem from IP address conflicts (DHCP changing device IPs) or duplicate unique IDs for networked devices (e.g., Meross, Shelly). Resolve this by assigning static IP addresses to devices, restarting the integration, or deleting and re-adding the affected device to the registry.

Could this be a remedy? You seem two have two devices with the same IP.

I really appreciate your help, thank you and I am sorry if I am turning circles. So from the the Settings Screen where it tells me that it “Received mismatched identity for device Smart Switch” I cannot simply delete the device from HA from. here (using the UID or IP address) and then see what is no longer connected?

You can delete the devices, but this will not eliminate the underlying IP problem. It is probably not related to HA.

You may want to take a look at your router and its network view to check if two devices have the same IP. If yes, assign static IPs. Note that the new IP will only be applied when you restart the device. Pull the plug, wait 15 sec and plug it back.

Then restart HA and you should be ok.

Thank you, I will leave you in peace now! I will try what you suggest.

No worries, you are welcome

Sorry, you need to restart the router, not the device for the new ip adresses to be assigned

Do a backup of your current router configuration, just in case you foul up the next step.
Assign a static IP for each Meross device on your router in the DHCP configuration section. While you are there, do your HomeAssistant server as well. Save the router configuration. Back it up also.
Restart your router to bring up the new configuration.
Restart the associated Meross devices to connect to their respective IP Addresses, which are now fixed and can be readily identifiable.
Bring down and restart your HomeAssistant server.

Now, go and troubleshoot without guessing. You may find your problem has disappeared automagically!
