Recent Tesla Powerall 3 Firmwares remove local API support

Since my Powerwall 2’s were among the batch that had faulty cells, they disabled those and replaced them with Powerwall 3’s. This was all done at no change to me, but I’m a little miffed because the public network API interfaces for the gateway dissapeared with the swap (yesterady). After a little research, it apears that the local network interfaces to the powerwalls and gateway have been disabled on the customer facing wifi interfaces. They still exists on wired interfaces, and on the Tesla configuration WiFi interfaces, but those aren’t available to me.

According to the Powerwall Dashboard project there is still a cloud API, but I can’t find any support for that in HomeAssistant. Am I missing that configuration option, or does someone (maybe me) need to implement the cloud based API interface?

Thanks
Mitch

The cloud API is supported via the Tesla Fleet integration: Tesla Fleet - Home Assistant

Setting that up using FleetKey to host the key was pretty easy.

It sucks that they removed the local API. I have 3 PowerWall 2s that were installed in November 2020, but they have not been recalled … yet.

I found this guide to setting up the Tesla Fleet integration, and it was very helpful.

Mine were installed in April 2022, and I’m guessing that only a few manufactured around the same time were affected. The replacement process was surprisingly quick and painless, especially since my solar installer (Freedom Forever Solar, not to be confused with Freedom Solar) went belly up a few months back. Tesla found another installer, arranged the replacement and had it done free-of-charge within ~6 weeks of the disabling of the Powerwall 2s.
