Recipient woes using SMTP

If I send a message to [email protected] from gmail (in a browser) my cellphone gets an SMS and it recognizes it as coming from my gmail account. More importantly, it will recognize it as a contact and give a custom ringtone alert (which will always alert me, even if I have the phone set to silent).

I’m trying to use the SMTP component to send via my gmail account the same message, however the “from” filed is a random 4 digit number (with a “-” after the 1st 3 digits). Thus mail sent via SMTP to my cell phone appears as if it’s a different caller. Does anyone know where these random numbers come from, ,and is there a way to stop it?

can you share how you send an email via SMTP (blank out credentials) There should be a from field where you can send the from email address
