I'm currently building an irrigation controller with Home Assistant.
At the moment I'm using a Tuya 8-channel relay module (TY-08W(B)). Although it works correctly through the Tuya cloud integration, I've found that local control is limited because some relays are exposed as USB outputs or use different DP IDs (101/102), making local integration more complicated than expected.
For this reason, I've decided to gradually replace my Tuya devices with hardware that works natively and reliably in local mode.
I'm looking for an 8-channel relay module with the following requirements:
100% local operation (no cloud dependency).
Reliable integration with Home Assistant.
Stable for a critical application such as irrigation.
Wi-Fi (ESPHome is fine), Ethernet, Zigbee or another local protocol.
Preferably with all 8 relays exposed as independent switch entities.
Easy to configure and maintain.
I only need to switch 24 VDC irrigation solenoid valves, so high-current AC switching is not a requirement.
What hardware would you recommend based on your own experience? If you're already using an 8-relay board with ESPHome or another fully local solution, I'd really appreciate hearing your recommendations.
