Hello, I have a balcony awning with its own control unit. The wall switch is a special type, I believe it's called a momentary switch. It normally stays in a neutral position; when I press up and release it, it immediately returns to neutral. A short pulse is enough for the control unit to fully extend (or retract) the awning. The awning cannot be stopped at intermediate positions.
How can I make this smart/home-automation compatible?
For roller shutters I used a Bticino N4027C, but I'm not sure whether it supports this kind of logic.
I would like a robust solution that continues to work even without Home Assistant running.
Most relays should have the option to swap the input modes when they are added to HA and you will need as many as you have buttons you want to connect in different locations or get ones that have more than one input and output option based again where you want to and need to set them up.
The relay that I have at the moment to give you an example of one is an Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 which has the following options in HA:
Have a look at Shelly 2PM. It works independently and has 2 relays. But you need to verify that your actual momentary switch is on L. If not, you need dry contact relays.
Looking that up it seems its listed as Zigbee compatible so you may be able to bring into HA directly, you just need a skyconnect, the ZBT-2 or any other Zigbee compatible coordinator if not already having one:
I should of looked it up first but I assumed it was just a dumb switch setup, so the other suggestion can be of use elsewhere you need to set them up in gen lol.
