Hey everyone! Wanted to share a project I've been working on that might interest the reef keeping community here.
ReefCtrl is an iOS app (web app too) for reef tank management — think of it as a smart dashboard for your saltwater aquarium. It connects to your Neptune Apex controller via a lightweight desktop bridge (similar concept to how many HA integrations work) and gives you:
- Live parameter monitoring — Temp, pH, Salinity, ORP from your Apex probes
- Outlet control — Toggle outlets ON/OFF/AUTO from your phone
- AI reef assistant — Ask questions about your water chemistry, get dosing advice, generate Apex programming code in plain English
- Parameter history — Charts and trends for all your water parameters
- ICP analysis — Upload ICP test reports and get AI insights
- Dosing tracker, livestock registry, equipment maintenance reminders
- Push alerts when params drift out of range
It's built on a Next.js web app with a Capacitor iOS wrapper, so the web version works on any browser too.
I know a lot of reefers here use Home Assistant to monitor their tanks — I'd love to eventually build a HA integration or at least explore how ReefCtrl data could feed into HA dashboards. Anyone here running Apex + HA would be great to connect with.
