Remote access to HAOS filesystem

Apologies if this has been answered already. I have found the opposite question being asked (“how do I mount a remote drive from HAOS to do backups?”) but not this one:

How do I mount my (raspi hosted) HAOS drive on my Mac, so I can be making local edits or pointing Claude Code to it. I feel like this is something people would be doing often, so I’m just missing something obvious.

I have been using HA for about 2 years and have gone through what seem like the typical phases of “install all the plugins!” to “make my own gee-whiz dashboard!” to “let’s just scale it back and be more intentional here”. I’d really like some AI help as I settle into that last phase.

TIA

Do you mean editing the config files? Or something more to do with the OS?

Config files can you not just use the samba app? I have no idea if samba works with Macs or not.

If its the underlying OS you want to modify don’t bother as every update will more than likely overwrite any cahnges.

  1. Install the SMB addon, in HAOS
  2. Configure it please use strong passwords.
  3. mount share from client pc/mac

…Profit…

Also make sure Claude knows HA not Jinja2, not Ansible, not Java… :sunglasses:

Thank you! I don’t know how I didn’t find this before. The SMB “Config” share is exactly what I’m looking for.
