I have an Amazon Fire HD tablet mounted on the wall, and I’d like to find a way to mechanically cover (block/shade) the camera based on certain situations - but it should be operated/controlled electronically - remotely
Ideally, I’m looking for a simple solution — maybe some kind of prebuilt module or attachment that can be added to the tablet.
Has anyone solved something like this, or can recommend an easy approach?
The position of the tablet is not fix, if required i can remount it in the new position on the wall.
thanks
I do have these devices, but the level of the movement is not that “big” that something attached to it will cover / uncover it. they are already installed on other devices so hard to test.
IMHO opinion this can be done with the switchbot.
Since it swivels 90°: if you attach like a ‘flap’ to it this would rotate and show/hide the camera but that flap will most likely be visible in the image when open.
If that switch is in the ‘in position’ the ‘front’ of it is ligned up with the housing.
When you attach/glue some kind of flap to it that flap will be perpendicular to the bottom surface of the switch and also your tablet → camera has free sight.
When the switch is operated that flap ‘rotates/swivels’ 90° and thus covers the camera.
You could use a stepper motor with ESPHome to construct something yourself which gives you more options/freedom.
