I have an IKEA RODRET Dimmer included in my Zigbee network (ZHA) which works quite well. Today I added an Aqara Plug to the network, which also works well. BUT the dimmer does switch the plug even though it is not supposed to?!? I tried to delete the binding of the dimmer:
Yes, I woke up the dimmer and then tried to unbind it.
Does it help to switch to zigbee2mqtt? I don’t think so, because it seems to be direct communication between the dimmer and the plug.
Do you have a suggestion for a battery powered switch that works better?
But in theory, it should be possible to delete this binding, right? So is it a bug or a feature? If it is a bug, is it a bug of ZHA or the Zigbee firmware of Aqara? Confusing…
I don’t think it’s a binding (in the Zigbee sense of the word) but an issue where the IKEA remotes, by default, broadcast to a particular Zigbee group and the Aqara devices, by default, listening to that group.
Sometimes it’s possible to remove the devices from that group to stop either the broadcasting or the listening, but not always.
It’s a bug-vs-feature debate whether devices should have such default behaviour, but I would call it a bug if you cannot disable it. Ultimately it’s an issue caused by the device firmware (IKEA and Aqara).
