Removing Aeotec USB stick while HA is running

I have searched for an answer but does HA support the removal of the Aeotech USB stick for remote device learning or does it need to be done with HA and the PI4 shutdown?

All new to HA as I am migrating from HomeSeer…

It is recommended to do all inclusions with the UI in HA if you are running the old z wave integration.

If you are using the new zwavejs integration I’m not sure if a “best practice” has been promulgated.

That said, a long time ago before that was the recommended procedure I remember pulling the Aeotec stick out to do inclusions with HA running and it seemed to work fine…at least from what i remember.

And if it glitches you can always restart HA again after you put the stick back in.

But I would still try my best to not have to pull the stick to do inclusions.

Thanks for the feedback, I’m going to try using the stick remotely for one of my door locks. I will let you know how it goes.

It worked, I paired the device using just the Aeotec Stick and then plugged it into the Pi4 running HA and the node was discovered by the Z-Wave JS Integration.
