I am going to remove and add back my T6 thermostat to see if can solve an issue I have been having.
Two Questions,
When I add it back, will it have the same node number? Node 010
Will it be easy to add back to the Dashboard in the place it is now?

It will have a different node id.
The entities will be recreated. Any customization or renaming you’ve done will be lost.
Here’s what I’d do,
a) take a NVM backup of the stick
b) take a backup of HA
c) exclude the thermostat
d) restart HA and zwave
e) include the thermostat
f) verify the device and entities come back,
g) take a NVM backup of the stick (you always want a backup, so anytime nodes are added and removed it’s a good time to take backup)
Thank you for the advice. I found the NVM backup.
this isnt absolutely true
I use entity_id for adding devices to dashboard and in automations and such. This is created from domain.devicename so a zwave thermostat named “family room” will be climate.family_room.
when you add a device using zwavejsui (not sure what zwavejs does so this is specific to zwavejsui and matter and some other things as well) you can name the device. this will be transfered and used by HA to create the name.
When replacing a device simply give it the name it had before. You of course need to remove the old device or rename it in zwavejsui. If HA doesnt take the name a “reload” of the integration will update it.
Will it affect me in anyway just removing the Thermostat and adding it back to add S2?
No. As long as everything is based on entity id and you ensure it is readd and uses same entity id.
Sure it is. The unique ID of the entity is a combination of household id, node id, and command class. So if you’ve renamed the entity or given it a different friendly name or a different icon those “customizations” will be lost. Yes the entity ids should be the same when they get recreated
So. Yes. Node will always change. No way around this.
Regarding OP question
See earlier reply about entity id
If you use device name or whatever else to add devices to dashboard or put device in automation, yes, you will need to fix it all to match new. Entity_id can easily be swapped between devices.
Why would you do an NVM backup?
If you exclude the T6, or any z-wave device and then include it again using the same name it should create all the same entity ids and your dashboards and automations will be just fine.
This is why I like using ZUI’s SmartStart and adding the name and area there, as you can exclude a device and then the device will re-include itself with the same name (becuase SmartStart is using the same name again).
What do I need to do to keep this as uncomplicated as possible? Do I rename it the same as I have it now?
The entity ID for humidity is sensor.t6_pro_z_wave_programmable_thermostat_with_smartstart_humidity
The entity ID for temperature is
sensor.t6_pro_z_wave_programmable_thermostat_with_smartstart_air_temperature
Do I need to write these down so when I remove the thermostat and add it back it, I make sure these are the same after adding it back?
This device has 68 entities.
I didn’t think this was as complicated as the above interchanged makes it sound.

In your case, I’d probably rename in something like Yoga Studio and you end up with entity like climate.yoga_studio which probably make a lot more sense.
I don’t have a Yoga Studio. My wife has a bedroom we call her Yoga Room
Oh, no Yaga Studio. Clealy that’s got to be built first!
I had no idea that this was so complicated. I am pot committed but I am not sure I want to remove the Thermostat for fear I won’t be able to get anything to work again.
Any new device I add, I need to make sure I have it exactly correct.
Readd the device to ZUI and in ZUI name it t6_pro_z_wave_programmable_thermostat_with_smartstart. That may be its name
By default
The name I gave it was Honeywell T6 Pro. I may nave renamed it that after I originally added it.
It is unless one already exists then it may become t6_pro_z_wave_programmable_thermostat_with_smartstart_1
Since ZUI is already connected to HA it will auto add to HA before you can rename it in ZUI.
If that occurs, after correct name
In ZUI, a “reload” of the zwave integration should update HA with the renamed entities.
EDIT
That name is crazy so now would be a good time to change it and just do the minor work of making edits in HA to add it to dashboards and automations
You are making it much harder than it is. Why don’t you practice with the Piano Lamp. Put z-wave js in exclude mode and click a button on the device the right number of times (see its docs) and then re-include it and see what happens. Do it again and this time rename it and see what happens. Then exclude again and go back to the original name.
That will get you comfortable doing it.
By the way,
You want to turn up the temp in the room, not in the thermostat. climate.yoga_room is much better than climate.honeywell_t6_pro
You take an NVM backup if you care about recovering from a failed or corrupted stick.
